Guided and Special Theme Group Tours

The Grout Museum District offers guided and unguided tours for each of our Grout District properties, as well as themed tours for special interests and occasions. Take a look at the special theme tour options of the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum below, and then contact us or download our group tour guide for more information on how to make your next group trip unforgettable.

Guided Tours

Suggested tour hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The tour operator and bus driver are always free. Lunch is available with all tours and programs, please ask for more information when you book your tour.

Special Theme Tours

Tour and Lunch: $20.00 — 25.00 per person

These tours offer an insider's perspective on various aspects of this one-of-a-kind veterans museum.

After a guided tour of the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, stay with us for lunch. Enjoy an "MRE" lunch in the beautiful glass lobby under the P51 Mustang fighter plane. Lunches will be catered from locally owned Waterloo restaurants. Prices vary.

Tour and Re-enactment

Historical Re-enactment: $12.50 per person

Along with your guided tour of the Iowa Veterans Museum, enjoy a historical re-enactment presentation. Re-enactments are an interesting and entertaining way to explore the lives of Iowa veterans.

Choose from the following:

  1. Civil War Re-enactor
  2. WWI Re-enactor
  3. WWII Re-enactor

The Life & Times of Waterloo's Five Sullivan Brothers

A close-up look at the historic and tragic loss of Waterloo's Sullivan family.

Veteran's Group Bonus

All Veteran Groups touring the Iowa Veterans Museum will receive a special welcome on the large screen in the museum lobby. A 7-8 minute feature will be shown in the 65-seat theatre. The film may highlight WWII fighter jets, Navy ships, scenes from Vietnam or current conflicts. The Director of Group Tours will contact the tour operator in advance for information about the group's interests.

Deposit

A non-refundable $30.00 administration fee must be paid in advance and is required for all tour groups. The full deposit will be applied toward the total tour cost. If any balance is due at time of tour, please submit one check for the full amount payable to the Grout Museum District. Visa and MasterCard are welcome.

Registration

Registration deadline for tours is no less than two weeks in advance. Please supply an approximate number of persons at least one week in advance. Fifteen-person minimum. Groups of 28 or more will be divided into two groups.

Please notify us if anyone has special needs or dietary restrictions.
