What to Do:
1. Tape the top of the Slinky to the bottom of the oatmeal container.
2. Take the top off of the container.
3. Hold the container with the Slinky hanging from the bottom and wiggle it back and forth. What sounds do you hear?
What's Happening?
Sound is really just vibrating air. The Slinky moves when you wiggle it, causing the air inside the container to vibrate - so you hear a "cosmic" sound. Without the container, the Slinky just makes a small sound, and with the container it acts as a speaker to launch the sound into the room!
