The Grout Museum District has displayed thousands of objects in exhibits over the years, but there are many more pieces in storage than have ever been seen by the public. Have you ever wondered what other pieces might be preserved behind the scenes? Or maybe you want to know how the Museum chooses items to become part of the permanent collection? How does the museum organize the objects in the collection?

What kind of movie theater needs a 5½ foot-tall Italian garden statue? What’s so special about a common shotgun? How did fire-fighters get water to a blaze in the years before a city-wide distribution system? How old is a massive wooden loom found in a downtown basement in the 1960s?

Find out at our upcoming exhibit: Eclectic Collections where you’ll see items that are seldom exhibited and some that have never been displayed before!
