Even though the Holocaust took place in Europe, the effects were felt by Iowans. Accounts recorded from those who witnessed or experienced these atrocities explore how Iowans reacted to the horror of genocide. The recollections of GI’s present at the liberation of concentration camps examine their anguish at the horror wrought when people do nothing in the face of evil. Survivors reflect on Nazi atrocities and how they found a new start in Iowa.
