Step into the kitchen of the past and taste American history, one bite at a time! Campers will explore how food evolved from the days of the Pilgrims and Pioneers to the Victorian era and beyond. Discover why certain foods were popular and how crops and industry shaped communities. Campers will taste, make, and compare historic snacks, to see how food tells the story of our nation. This camp involves food-based activities. Families of children with food allergies are asked to contact us prior to registration to determine if this camp is appropriate.
Ages: 6-12
Before and After Care is available one hour before (8:00 – 9:00AM) and one hour after (4:00 – 5:00PM). Cost is $25 per day camp or $75 per week long camp. To register for Before and After Care please call Desirae at 319.234.6357.

Grout Museum District Summer Camp Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change. To help us prepare and ensure a quality experience for all campers, please review our cancellation policy below:
Full Refund – Cancellations made 30 or more days before the first day of camp will receive a full refund, minus a $10 administrative fee.
Partial Refund – Cancellations made 14–29 days before the first day of camp will receive a 50% refund.
No Refund – Cancellations made less than 14 days before the first day of camp, or failure to attend without notice, are not eligible for a refund.
Medical Exceptions – Refunds due to illness or medical emergencies may be considered on a case-by-case basis with a doctor’s note.
Transfers – Camp registration may be transferred to another available camp session (if space allows) up to 14 days in advance.
